Happy September!
As I've mentioned in previous posts, I have an incredible Lamb's Breath Irie Select male this year. His mother tested over 29% total cannabinoids, over 26% THC, and 4.88% total terpenes. He's big and bushy with a potent stem rub odor and loads of large flowers. I've been cutting a few flowering branches to collect pollen. The following pictures take a stroll thru the pollen collection process.
Here's the male Irie Select plant, outstanding in his field!
The flower clusters are large and lovely!
I snip a few branches and carefully trim off the leaves. I gently place the branches in a bowl, trying to dislodge as little pollen as possible.
I suspend the clusters of pollen branches, contained in mesh bags with a bowl at the bottom of each bag to catch the pollen. I hang the "pollen catchers" under a light, next to a dehumidifier for several days. I gently shake the clusters two or three times a day, and watch clouds of pollen fall into the bowls below.
Once all of the pollen has fallen into the bowls, I sift it thru a fine stainless steel strainer to remove flower petal parts.
I transfer the sifted pollen from the bowls into a clean jar and store in the fridge, where I keep it cool, dry, and dark. I will use it for future breeding projects, and may even offer some for sale. Stay tuned!
